The SG-17R/2xMR-17H2/2xMR-17G8 (4xSHDSL, 16xE1, 4xEth10/100) multiplexer is designed for data streams transmission using IP and TDM technologies over dedicated metallic circuits. SG-17R/2xMR-17H2/2xMR-17G8 (4xSHDSL, 16xE1, 4xEth10/100) allows transmirring up to 16 E1 and Ethernet streams over 3 pairs.

Description

The SG-17R/2xMR-17H2/2xMR-17G8 (4xSHDSL, 16xE1, 4xEth10/100) multiplexer is designed in a 1U height compact case for 19’’ rack-mount drawer. The multiplexer features 4 Ethernet 10/100 ports, 16 E1 ports, 4 SHDSL ports. Three pairs are enough for transmission of 16 full-size E1 streams. Thus, 2xMR-17H2 configuration applied, the 4th SHDSL port may be used as a standby port or for IP-traffic transmission.

The data from IP channel is transmitted through Ethernet interface, while TDM stream uses E1 port, capable of transmitting both full-size and divided streams. 
 
The administration of SG-17R/2xMR-17H2/2xMR-17G8 (4xSHDSL, 16xE1, 4xEth10/100) may be competed through serial interface, SNMP, Web, ssh. The device features options of remote program update, configuration saving and restoring. 
 
The SG-17R/2xMR-17H2/2xMR-17G8 (4xSHDSL, 16xE1, 4xEth10/100) multiplexer may be used both in business and carrier networks. In the first case, up to 30 telephone channels may be linked to the corporate information structure over E1 stream; the company’s branch LAN may be linked up over Ethernet interfaces. Network carriers, on the other hand, may use networks built on different technologies (TDM and IP) link up to primary providers and to setting up private DTNs. 
 
The SG-17R/2xMR-17H2/2xMR-17G8 (4xSHDSL, 16xE1, 4xEth10/100) multiplexer features plug-in modular architecture. By means of a built-in 4-port Ethernet 10/100 commutator it is possible to unite a small local group, with the possibility for each of the ports to be configured individually according to the traffic-control rules. Each of the ports may as well function as a LAN or WAN interface. Port-based and port-tagged VLAN is supported. 
 
The SG-17R-1RU-CP2-3SFP/220VAC-W1 variant of the base platform may be used to link to high-speed gigabit trunks.
 
Installation of several multi-channel SHDSL modules on SG-17R/2xMR-17H2/2xMR-17G8 (4xSHDSL, 16xE1, 4xEth10/100) allows transmitting data over 6 pairs, which helps to increase the rate between two points or to arrange E1+Ethernet multiplexing in different directions. The maximum rate in the line reaches 14080kbit/s over single pair. This allows transmitting up to 6 E1 streams over single pair. In the multiplexing mode, multi-pair link used, the E1 streams’ surpluses are aggregated in a single logical link for Ethernet transportation. The “remote power supplier” mode allows using these devices together with SG-17E regenerators. This allows setting up rate-maintaining DTCs and increasing the distance between SHDSL devices. The SG-17R/2xMR-17H2/2xMR-17G8 (4xSHDSL, 16xE1, 4xEth10/100) multiplexer features built-in option of circuit monitoring in accordance with the G.991.2 standard. The multiplexer supports MIB-II and HDSL2-SHDSL-LINE-MIB.
 
If needed, the SG-17R/2xMR-17H2/2xMR-17G8 (4xSHDSL, 16xE1, 4xEth10/100) equipment may simultaneously be a multiplexer and a router for different interfaces. 
When used as a router, DHCP and DNS settings may be used; traffic management is carried out by means of NAT, Firewall, QoS. The device allows using static paths and itself may be using RIP protocol. If there is no need and the router-mode is off, the device may function as a bridge in the mode of direct-connection between the chosen interfaces.
 
Additional FXO/FXS/VF telephone modules allow linking up subscriber lines form BPXs, telephones, fax machines and voice-frequency channels equipment. The SG-17R base platform allows installing all these modules in different combinations.
Additional modules featuring RS-232 interface allow linking different equipment with COM ports which enables: remote control over different devices, data collection form sensors and controllers, setting up main and standby channels using subsidiary wireless modems or modems for dedicated metallic circuits and commutated lines. 
 
Adapter-module for CardBus Card allows using standard devices of this class, for example, to establish a Wi-Fi connection. In this case the device may be either access point or the client.
For additional services there are two modes available in the standby SHDSL band:  data-multiplexing mode and packet-mode with isolated fixed pass-band and QoS for the requested service.

Usage example description

Purpose: uniting two Ethernet networks to reach full output in the link by using the bonding mode. In this scheme SG-17R provides either internetwork connection between two Ethernet groups with routing rules or bridge link with shared addressing of the networks united. Transfer rate over each pair reaches 14080 kbit/s. Different transfer rate may be set up in different pairs. It is important that even if on one of the pairs there is a link loss, the performance of the channel does not fail. Up to 6 pairs may be simultaneously linked to a single SG-17R device for SHDSL links based on SG-17R-1RU-CP1-4ETH platform. Up to 8 pairs may be simultaneously linked to a single SG-17R device for SHDSL links based on SG-17R-1RU-CP2-3SFP platform. Besides, in the bonding mode it is possible to unite any kind of channel-forming equipment, through which IP-traffic is transferred: E1, RS-232. Both Ether-HDLC and PPP-multilink may be chosen as protocols.

Uniting networks for "E1 + Ethernet" transmission over several pairs using SHDSL

Usage example description

Purpose: simultaneous IP and TDM transfer of mixed traffic over DSL links. As the transfer rate over single pair may reach 14080 kbit/s, up to 6 E1/G.703 ports may be linked to a single SG-17R for single-pair transfer. Up to 3 E1 modules may be installed, only one DSL module used.  One E1 module (MR-17G*) may feature up to 8 ports. Single SG-17R device may feature up to 6 pairs. There is an option to aggregate the surplus of the Ethernet bands from different pairs into a single logical channel. Another option is to arrange traffic isolation among networks by means of VLAN.

Usage example description

Purpose: linking Ethernet networks to providers who render the services by means of G.703/E1 ports. As the transfer rate over single pair reaches 14080 kbit/s, up to 6 E1 ports may be linked to SG-17R for single-pair transfer. In case of large distance, the E1 flow may be transferred over several pairs. Up to 6 pairs may be linked to a single SG-17R device, E1 module used. Single E1 module (MR-17G*) may feature up to 8 ports. One SG-17R device functions in the router mode, the other – in the bridge mode or router mode. The PPP-Multilink protocol is used to guarantee compatibility with other devices over E1. Other interfaces of SG-17R may be used as channel-forming equipment for E1 transfer, namely Ethernet and E1.
