Description

Modular Linux IP-cameras featuring day-night mode and plug-in Ethernet PoE and SHDSL PoDSL interfaces.

Today the IP-cameras market grows faster than the market of analog-cameras. Just like IP-telephony and IP-TV the IP-cam ratio will be growing continuously.

When establishing video surveillance systems using IP-cameras on enterprises a great advantage is the possibility to use the existing Ethernet network as the video-transmitting medium. Digitized video transmitted over TCP/IP is not subject to any distortions irrespective of the distance from the camera to the surveillance system operator or the recording equipment. Recording of the already digitized video requires very low capacity of the recording equipment, if compared to digitizing the video stream on the recorder.

Cables for analog video transmission may be rather thick, which makes it difficult to lay them and requires extra cable-channels. Moreover, analog channel is extremely noise-sensitive, especially to noise from high-voltage lines, electric motors of ventilation and climate equipment, etc. This demands that a number of additional conditions be observed when laying the signal cables, which makes the project more complicated and more expensive.

The main drawback that hinders the universal usage of digital cameras is the price, due t which IP-cameras are still not applied widely enough on the Russian market of security-systems.

The price of the offered Sigrand Ipcam-20* cameras is very close to that of the analog cameras, but the quality is equal to the quality of very expensive IP-cameras: high resolution – up to 720x480 (H.264 30fps) and up to 1600x1200 (Mjpeg 15fps), day-night mode, effective compression, off-line mode featuring microSD recording, compact size, an option on liking up over great distance without any additional equipment through built-in SHDSL modem, which operates at up to 15296 kbit/s over single pair. Plug-in Ethernet and SHDSL user interfaces provide PoE and PoDSL powering if needed. The camera is operated by GNU/Linux OS, which provides vast opportunities for setting up and access security.

Advantages of digital cameras

  • Fast and simple link-up
  • Existing Ethernet network serves the transmission medium; it is enough to provide connection to any point of the network
  • Connection to the network provides group access to video cameras to any person interested
  • Watching the video by means of a regular Internet browser
  • Twisted pair for connection significantly reduces the costs for material and erection work
  • Digitized video is not noise-sensitive and is securely delivered to the destination point using TCP/IP protocol, regardless of the distance, with no quality-loss
  • Equipment monitoring via web or SNMP, which enables establishing a centralized configure-and-monitor system.

Sigrand IPcam video

High-quality optical characteristics are reached by using plug-in lenses for different purposes, and due to high-quality progressive scanning CMOS-matrix “MICRON” (IPcam-20* modification) the camera forms the video image with true-to-life color rendering and without the defects peculiar of alternate-line scanning. The “PIXIM” matrix (IPcam-04* modification) provides the day-night mode.

Sigrand IPcam audio

To ensure two-way audio connection is equipped with built-in microphone and features outputs for loudspeakers. The video camera supports two-way audio transmission from external or built-in microphone to computer and back. This allows setting up video conference and establishing audio- and video-connection of the central guard post with the entrance.

Sigrand IPcam powering

IPcam-20PE and IPcam-04PEN supporting PoE allows receiving power through twisted pair of category 5, which in many cases reduces the erecting costs. When using PoE the internet video camera is the Class 2 energy consumption. For IPcam-20PD and IPcam-04PDN which use SHDSL connection the camera powering may as well be remote over the same pair as the data transmission, from the side of Sigrand SG-17AM DSLAM. The camera may as well be powered locally by 12 VDC.

To protect  the power from voltage jumps the camera features 500 mA accumulator battery for off-line mode. The camera switches to the battery mode automatically.

Sigrand IPcam compact size and reliability

The camera without an additional thermal case is of  compact size, which allows using the camera for video surveillance in hard-to-reach locations, and also in special spheres of application, for example for deep-earth video shootings in various wells etc. All electronic components of the video camera are suitable for temperature conditions from-30 to +60С.

Sigrand IPcam network interfaces

IPcam-20PE and IPcam-04PEN video cameras with Ethernet interface are linked to switchboard with 10BaseT/100BaseTX ports. In the case of remote powering, a switchboard with Power over Ethernet support or Sigrand SG-17AM DSLAM with ports capacity of up to 32 interfaces is used. IPcam-20PD, IPcam-04PDN video cameras with SHDSL interface are linked to Sigrand SG-17AM DSLAM. Sigrand SG-17AM is manufactured in the 19 ” rack-mount format of 1U height and consists of chassis which may be extended by four-channel SHDSL modules. The maximum configuration supports installation of up to 16 SHDSL channels. Sigrand SG-17AM DSLAM may be linked to the common network by means of gigabit optical or copper interface through plug-in SFP modules. Sigrand SG-17AM also is as well operated by Linux OS and features options for remote setting up by means ssh, web, SNMP.

Sigrand IPcam ways of video transmission over great distances

Analog cameras use signal amplifiers to increase the distance of video signal transmission, but performance is still limited by 1 km. There are two ways to transmit the signal from IP-camera over great distance: over twisted pair using SHDSL modem or using optical media converters. IPcam-20PD, IPcam-04PDN video cameras use built-in SHDSL modem, and DSLAM with 16 SHDSL ports at the remote side. The maximum rate when using SHDSL varies depending on the line length and cable thickness. For example, for a 0,5mm cable the distance at 14 Mbit/c over single pair is 1200m. When working at extra-long distances, the video camera can be linek to DSLAM over additional SG-17E SHDSL regenerators. For isolated camera connection over SHDSL it is possible to use compact-sized desktop SG-17B SHDSL modem, which operates at 15,2 Mbit/c over single pair. A group of video cameras may also be linked to SG-17R router over MR-17N/MR-17HP SHDSL modules. The listed modules may be used both within SG-17R, and within SG-17AM DSLAM. SG-17R may be used as a router or as Ethernet-bridge.

Sigrand IPcam services and software

Each network camera features built-in web-server with IP-address. For viewing the image it is enough to open the web-browser on the computer and to type the IP-address of the camera in the address field. After the connection between PC and the IP-camera has been established the home page of the camera will open automatically in the web-browser. Live video from the surveillance camera will be displayed on this page as well as the menu, which allows changing the settings of the IP-camera, including resolution, network settings, e-mail, etc. To create video surveillance digital system with a big number of IP-cameras and video servers you can use any software supported h.264 format.

Mobile digital camera on the basis of Sigrand IPcam

Mobile cameras are of great use for recording important and interesting events. In many countries of the world such cameras are used by various special services. Such cameras can be fixed on the head and allow recording anything that happens before the eyes of the observing. The mobile camera differs from the basic variant in size, which is reduced and by featuring special shock-resistant case with a built-in lens. The installed socket for flash memory 8Gb microSD, provides up to 10 recording hours, and USB socket will is used for downloading and watching the video.

Sigrand IPcam-04PDN video camera is designated for work as a part of ip-surveillance systems, and also on objects with high requirements for detailed image. The IP-camera allows forming and transferring video- and audio- streams through networks. Depending on remoteness of the camera, connection to a digital network may be set up through SHDSL or through Ethernet 10/100 module (IPcam-04PEN) with an option of power supply over single-pair information line. High-quality video is transmitted in H.264/AVC baseline profile or MPEG-4 with the rate of up to 30 k/s and the resolution of up to 720х480 pixels. The camera is operated by the built-in GNU/Linux 2.6 OS and features vast opportunities for management and protection against unapproved access.
